USFA Invites Libraries to Mark Fire Prevention Week, October 3-9

The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) invites libraries to mark Fire Prevention Week, October 3-9, 2021. 

Explore USFA publications and social media toolkits to increase community awareness about preventing home fires. Fire Prevention and Safety Social Media Toolkits highlight social media cards, pictographs, videos, and photos suitable for sharing on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media channels.

USFA has educational publications available for kids and adults. Libraries can order free print copies or download electronic versions from our Publications page.

USFA maintains statistics on household fires involving injuries and deaths. Annually from 2017 to 2019, an estimated 2,770 people died from 1,900 fatal household fires. Household fires injured an estimated 11,600 people annually. Cooking was the leading cause of residential building fires resulting in injuries.
