The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) has joined a worldwide digital preservation alliance to further collaborate with Federal Depository Libraries and other organizations on preservation initiatives. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) provides libraries with digital preservation tools and support so they can collect and preserve their own copies of authorized electronic content.

"GPO's long partnership with the library community will only be enhanced by joining LOCKSS. Joining LOCKSS will give GPO the opportunity to share the preservation initiatives the agency has taken with FDsys and explore additional opportunities with the FDLP."
