GPO Works During Snowstorms & Government Closings to Produce White House and Congressional Materials

As the Washington, D.C. area measured the snow by the foot and struggled to dig out after two devastating snowstorms, employees at the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) braved the elements to print important materials for The White House and Congress. Even after the Federal Government closed, more than 200 GPO employees, which included plant workers, police officers and facility crews, traveled from distances as far as Baltimore, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia to produce The Economic Report of the President.

These efforts by employees ensured this job for President Barack Obama was completed on time. GPO employees also produced and delivered the Congressional Record and the Federal Register.
