Mary Alice Baish Discusses GPO’s Digital Efforts on Federal News Radio
On April 12, 2011, Federal News Radio spoke with Superintendent of Documents Mary Alice Baish at the Federal Senior Management Conference, which features keynotes and dialogue sessions from government and industry leaders and visionaries. Mary Alice provided a keynote session entitled, “The U.S. Government Printing Office: 150 Years of Innovation and Collaboration.”
During the interview, Mary Alice discussed the various ways in which GPO is working to ensure that the American public has easy access to digital Federal information. She spoke briefly on:
- A project to provide enhanced access to the regulatory plan and Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions with the Regulatory Information Service Center and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- FDsys as a content management system that securely manages digital Federal information and safeguards the integrity and authenticity of the information.
- Working with Federal agencies to ingest and provide public access to born-digital documents.
- An upcoming external audit of FDsys for the Trustworthy Repositories Audit and Certification (TRAC).
- Expanding digital content offerings through partnerships by turning print titles into dynamic databases so that users know that the what is in FDsys is the most timely and current information.
- Working with agencies to convert publications into eBook format.
