Like all Federal agencies, the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) has been planning for a possible sequestration, effective March 1. Should it go into effect, GPO will see a 5.3% cut in its budget. Of this, $1.9 million will come from the Salaries and Expenses (S&E) Appropriation of the Superintendent of Documents. S&E provides funding for the Federal Depository Library Program, Cataloging and Indexing Program, International Exchange Service, and By-law distribution of publications.

On Tuesday, February 26, 2013, Acting Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks will testify at the GPO budget hearing before the House Committee on Appropriations, Legislative Branch Subcommittee. You can view the hearing live at 11 a.m. EST via Webcast.

More details will be available after the hearing in Superintendent of Documents Mary Alice Baish’s next FDLP Connection column later this week.
