Two new online presentations, on geology librarianship and on geographic information system (GIS) programs, have just been added to the GPO OPAL archive. They are the first results of a "virtual practicum" with the University of Washington Information School to produce new online educational programs, with academic credit accruing to a library school student.

The two programs were developed and presented by Stephanie Earls, GPO intern and MLIS student at the University of Washington. They will be especially helpful for general reference librarians without a science background. To view the presentations, go to the GPO OPAL archive.

GPO thanks the University of Washington Information School for their support of the practicum. The project was intended as a demonstration of the kind of online training that could be prepared at depository libraries and shared with the entire depository community.
