FDsys is GPO’s official system for Federal information from all three branches of the U.S. Government. As GPO Access transitions and is shut down, Federal depository libraries are asked to assist in promoting/using FDsys and discontinue promoting/using GPO Access.

In the past, brochures and other literature has been distributed or available for order that promote GPO Access. Today, these flyers are either outdated or deprecated. These include:

  • Authenticated Federal Government Documents
  • Research Each Step in the Lawmaking Process Using GPO Access
  • Explore Federal Rules and Regulations Using GPO Access
  • U.S. Government Bookstore
  • Easy as FDL

Brochures to Discard.

Updated brochures, which are designed to increase public awareness of the FDLP and GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys), can now be ordered, free of charge, by depositories through the FDLP Desktop. These full-color, 7” X 10” brochures are being offered in bundles of 25 copies. Up to 5 bundles may be ordered at one time.

In addition to ordering print brochures, high resolution PDF versions of the flyers, as well as the "How a Bill Becomes a Law" poster and flyer, are also available.

The new brochures are:

  • FDsys: Federal Digital System: Describes the uses and capabilities of GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys).
  • Track Federal Legislation in FDsys: Identifies primary legislative resources that can be found on FDsys and includes a brief description of each resource.
  • Research Federal Rulemaking in FDsys: Identifies primary regulatory resources that can be found on FDsys and includes a description of each resource, along with a brief description of the regulatory process.
  • Search the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications: Describes the uses and features of the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP), including information on searching by catalog. Features such as MetaLib are also detailed.
  • Easy as FDL: Federal Depository Libraries: Informs the public about the FDLP and depository libraries. It describes the FDLP, instructs how to locate a local depository library, and also lists important web sites for accessing Government information.

In addition to replacing brochures that advertise GPO Access, depositories are asked to start replacing other references to GPO Access (e.g., Web references, presentation slides, speech points) with FDsys.
