Public Printer of the United States Bob Tapella visited the University of South Carolina’s Thomas Cooper Library in Columbia, South Carolina, on Thursday, September 17, 2009, to mark the library’s 125 years of providing Federal Government information to the residents of South Carolina. After his presentation of remarks and a commemorative plaque, Tapella joined officials and guests of the library in touring an exhibit of a Government Information collection that dates back to the 19th century.

As a large research library, the University of South Carolina’s Thomas Cooper Library holds over a million volumes and many special collections. A depository since 1884, the library maintains extensive holdings of historical as well as current government documents issued by Federal agencies. Especially notable is its Historical U.S. Government Documents Online collection, accessible from the library’s Government documents Web site.
