FDLP Access to Import and Export Data in Census Bureau’s Foreign Trade Online Resource

Through the FDLP, Federal depositories now have free access to monthly merchandise trade files in the Foreign Trade online resource, a password-protected agency subscription database.

GPO arranged with the U.S. Census Bureau to provide continued access to the monthly import and export data files previously made available on DVD. To request the username and password to the Foreign Trade online resource, log in to askGPO, and submit an inquiry using the category, “Other Depository Library Question or Issue.”

Please note that almost all content is also available free to the public through the International Trade API. The U.S. Exports of Merchandise data is complete, but the U.S. Imports of Merchandise data in the API is missing one variable: District of Entry. This is currently only available via the agency subscription database, now available free to FDLs.

The DVDs with monthly trade data have been discontinued.
