The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) is seeking Technical Services Librarians to join the Library Services & Content Management (LSCM) team. The incumbents will serve in the Metadata and Collection Services (MCS) unit of LSCM and perform a wide variety of technical services tasks associated with all aspects of life cycle management of U.S. Government information.

Duties include: 

  • Identifies appropriate Federal Government information resources to be acquired for all programs in LSCM.
  • Performs outreach functions in order to identify, acquire, and process U.S. Government information products. 
  • Determines the formats and quantities to acquire for various programs.
  • Catalogs U.S. Federal Government information products in tangible and electronic formats, following national, international, and MCS standards and guidelines.
  • Learns the Superintendent of Documents classification system and the item number system.
  • Creates and updates holdings records and patterns in the Integrated Library System cataloging and serials modules.
