Item Selection Profile Update Cycle and the Digital FDLP Framework
The item selection profile update cycle is ahead. Beginning on October 1, 2023, any tangible format item numbers that a library has previously added to their DSIMS selection cart become active.
This year’s update cycle is a bit different as the FDLP is pivoting to a digital FDLP framework. This undertaking will impact tangible material distribution in the upcoming year. Library Services and Content Management (LSCM) staff are busy working on the new framework, which will decrease the number of tangible titles and the number of copies available. For more information about the digital FDLP implementation, please attend one of the upcoming virtual meetings: Invitation to a Virtual Meeting about the Digital FDLP.
Due to upcoming changes in tangible distribution, libraries are advised to focus on developing the digital content in their FDLP collections. EL-format item numbers may be added to a library’s selection profile at any time of the year, and those selections go into effect immediately. Item number deselections also take effect immediately.
Midnight, Saturday, September 30, 2023, is the deadline for libraries intending to add tangible formats to their item selection profiles for Federal fiscal year 2024 (October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024). Changes to item selection profiles are made in the Depository Selection Information Management System (DSIMS).
