FDLP Data Manager (FDM) Now Available for FDLP Collection Management

FDLP Data Manager (FDM) is now available for use. This tool may be used to:

  • Create custom shipping lists.
  • Review what has shipped to depositories dating back to 1997.
  • Review the List of Classes, including library selection profiles with complete title, SuDoc, format, and item number information.
  • Download MARC records, including custom catalog record sets based on library item selection profiles.

The tool’s report features can be used in various FDLP projects, such as the creation of withdrawal or offers lists and retroactive cataloging. Any library staff who work with catalog records for FDLP material, process depository shipment boxes, or manage the FDLP item selection profile may benefit from using FDM.

FDM has been redeveloped after acquiring the Documents Data Miner 3 (DDM3) code from Wichita State University. GPO has migrated the tool to a new, secure platform and regularly updates the data from FDLP files.

Information about FDM may be found on FDLP.gov’s FDM page. Anyone wishing to use the tool must first create an account by clicking on the login button, and then Register in the upper right corner. Users must confirm their account by clicking on a link sent in a confirmation email.

A step-by-step tutorial is available with instructions for creating an account, logging in, and navigating the Shipping Lists module, Shelf List module, List of Classes module, Depositories module, and MARC Records module.
