Position Available at GPO: Digital Conversion Specialist

The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) is seeking a Digital Conversion Specialist to join the Library Services & Content Management (LSCM) team. The incumbent will serve in the Projects and Systems unit of LSCM and be a member of the team responsible for digital imaging of historic publications in the National Collection of U.S. Government Public Information, which supports the mission and objectives of the Superintendent of Documents.

Duties:

  • Perform condition assessment and bibliographic review on tangible publications that are to be digitized.
  • Perform quality control on vendor-digitized deliverables, including preservation master files, PDF files, and metadata files, using software.
  • Draft instructions, guidance, and other documentation for the other LSCM staff and contractors to follow when performing tasks related to digitization, including condition assessment and bibliographic review.
  • Use a database application or spreadsheet to track, monitor, and maintain status of quality assessment and preparation of tangible publications.
  • Train lower-level staff or contractors on the performance of condition assessment of tangible materials, digital item packaging, and/or quality assessment of vendor-digitized deliverables.
