Description
2021 Federal Depository Library Conference
Title: Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction Information Resources: Documenting the U.S. Experience in Afghanistan
Speaker:
- Bert Chapman, Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies
Description:
The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) was established in Public Law 110-181 to audit funds distributed to assist reconstruction in Afghanistan; promote economy and efficiency in administering these programs; and detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in these programs and operations. Subsequent years have seen SIGAR produce copious amounts of research documenting successes, failures, and ambiguities in these programs. This presentation will introduce conference attendees to this literature which they can use to inform their users about U.S. policies in Afghanistan in light of ongoing events in that country.
