Additional Copies of Civics and Citizenship Toolkit for FDLs
Some libraries are reporting confusion about the availability of the Civics and Citizenship Toolkit. To clarify, libraries that are both public AND a depository library are able to register for a free secondary copy in addition to the copy that they will be receiving from the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP).
The confusion results from the following language that appears on the Web site:
Registration limited to public libraries only. Please DO NOT REGISTER IF YOUR LIBRARY IS PART OF THE FEDERAL DEPOSITORY LIBRARY PROGRAM (FDLP)*. Registration is subject to review to ensure eligibility.
This language was placed on the Web site to reduce errant registrations from libraries that would already be receiving the kit through the FDLP. The Task Force on New Americans assures that public libraries are allowed a free secondary copy in addition to the copy they receive from the U.S. Government Printing Office and that registrations from these Federal depository libraries will be accepted by the Web site. Furthermore, any problems with registration should be directed to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration staff for resolution.
