FDLP eXchange: Extended Review Periods
In March, GPO increased the review periods in FDLP eXchange to ease the burden on regional and selective depository libraries and to prevent libraries from missing opportunities to obtain depository materials they need to serve their users during quarantine.
- Regional review period: 180 days
- Selective review period: 90 days
These review periods will continue to remain in place as libraries begin reopening so that each region can determine the best time to change their own review periods. See the training video, Getting Started- Regionals, for instructions on how to do this.
Because libraries will be reopening at different times, it is important that selectives check with their regionals about disposal procedures during this period. Regionals should also continue to communicate with selectives as libraries start reopening.
Some important things to consider:
- Some regionals serve more than one state, so the regional might open later than selectives.
- Many states determine reopening dates at the county level, so the regional might reopen later than selectives.
- Regionals might want to limit the number of new entries into eXchange if a backlog has accumulated.
- Review periods are set by regionals to accommodate the needs of the region as a whole and cannot be changed for individual libraries.
