Special Reports from GPO
The National Dialogue, co-sponsored by GPO and the University of California Hastings College of the Law Library, focused on the principle that it is the Government’s obligation to preserve its information. The 2015 American Library Association Annual Conference provided an opportunity to obtain feedback on the Federal Information Preservation Network (FIPNet) from stakeholders representing the library community. The stakeholders in attendance had experience with collaborative networks and were knowledgeable professionals who represented various libraries and library-related organizations. This is the report of the National Dialogue.
This preliminary report was created in response to the spring 2015 Depository Library Council Recommendation #2, which was presented after observing the increasing number of public libraries relinquishing Federal depository library status. (October 2016)
This is the report of the findings of a survey of depository libraries conducted by the Superintendent of Documents for the Office of the Law Revisions Counsel. The survey’s primary focus was to gain an understanding of how library patrons use the United States Code annual supplements, and what the impact would be on users if production of the printed annual supplements ceased. A secondary focus is related to depository libraries and their collection decisions with regard to the USC and its annual supplements.
