The deadline to complete the 2021 Biennial Survey of Depository Libraries is extended through March 23, 2022. Those listed as depository coordinators in the FDL Directory at the end of January were sent a link to complete the survey. If you have trouble completing the survey, did not receive a link, or have other questions, please submit an inquiry to askGPO.

A Biennial Survey Definitions and terminology guide is available. A Preview of the Biennial Survey may be downloaded and completed for review and approval by the library’s director, prior to completing the survey in the survey instrument itself.

Selective depository coordinators should also send a copy of their responses to their regional depository coordinator after the survey is submitted.

The Biennial Survey of Depository Libraries is the means by which depository libraries report their conditions to the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO). It is administered every two years and response is required by law. The Superintendent of Documents, under the direction of the GPO Director, is responsible for administering the Biennial Survey as required by 44 U.S.C. §1909.
