In the digital-first Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), the structure is shifting away from a regional depository state-based program to a National Collection Service Area (NCSA)-based program.

Each NCSA will have a steering committee for the purposes of:

  • Facilitating discussion and collaboration among the Federal depository libraries in the NCSA.
  • Increasing opportunities for collection flexibilities and management.
  • Increasing the collaborative possibilities for depository library administration and services (e.g., training, resource sharing).
  • Collaborating with the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) to develop and refine guidance and procedures to steer the FDLP in its digital transition.

The makeup of the steering committees will be depository library staff and a member of the Depository Library Council who work in the NCSA. Additionally, there will be a member from GPO’s Federal Depository Support Services. For more information about steering committee duties and activities in which they may engage, please see their charters.

GPO is now seeking volunteers to serve on the steering committees. Members will serve staggered two-year terms. If you are interested, please complete this form by Thursday, February 29, 2024. If you have questions, please submit them to askGPO, and select the “Other depository library question or issue” category.
