This message is being posted on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education.

The U.S. Department of Education would like to spread awareness about this year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The staff at the Department are hoping that Federal depository libraries can help provide promotional support over the summer months to remind students and families that there is still time to complete this year’s FAFSA and access money for college in the Fall.

A variety of promotional resources can be found here.

Due to the FAFSA Simplification Act and the work required to update the systems that support the FAFSA, this year’s cycle was delayed, and students have had less time than previous years to complete the form.

The Department has been working diligently with a wide array of stakeholders to support students and contributors in completing the FAFSA, but now many of our primary stakeholder groups (teachers, counselors, principals, and superintendents) have completed the academic year and are no longer in direct contact with students.

Given this, the Department is launching a summer resources and promotional campaign to additional stakeholder groups who oversee locations that students frequent over the summer. The Department’s hope is that Federal depository library staff members will consider posting and sharing the promotional resources provided to help remind students and families to complete the FAFSA and reinforce that there is still time to access financial aid; support for higher education is still within reach in this cycle.

The Department has experts on hand to answer questions about the form itself for students and contributors. For questions, please email [email protected], and thank you in advance for your support!
