GPO is pleased to announce the 2022 release of the State of the Federal Depository Library Program, 2020-2021.

This report combines Biennial Survey data with other observations and fulfills the requirements of 44 U.S. Code §1909 for the Superintendent of Documents to report on conditions at depository libraries. The report covers the period from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021. The report highlights selected 2021 Biennial Survey data, as well as information gleaned by LSCM staff during various interactions with depository library personnel and administrators. The report also summarizes some of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on depository libraries.

The State of the Federal Depository Library Program informs the agency’s delivery of FDLP services, future programs, and strategic planning, as allowed by budget and staffing.
