During the 2021 Federal Depository Library Conference, there were four casual, 50-minute, open chat sessions, where members of the Depository Library Council lead discussions on specific topics.

Topic: Current Working Conditions COVID

Discussion Questions:

  • How is your organization handling workplace arrangements? For example, are staff back in your building(s) full-time, working remotely, a mix? How are the work arrangements going?
  • How are you and your colleagues providing consultation, instruction, reference, and other library services for your users?
  • How are you and your colleagues providing consultation, instruction, reference, and other library services for your users?
  • What are your library’s or organization’s mask and physical distancing policies? How is your library or organization enforcing those policies?
  • What are the safety precautions your organization has implemented in the past year to protect staff? What precautions do you feel are effective and what are areas for improvement?
  • As the pandemic situation has changed over the past year and many work arrangements have shifted, such as staff returning to on-site and taking on additional or changing responsibilities, what are some of the successes and accomplishments you and your colleagues have achieved over the past year which you may not have accomplished if the situation were different?
  • What are some of the fun stories or experiences from your workplace over the past year? These can be either from interactions with fellow colleagues or users.
