Floods, Humidity, and Mold in Libraries

Mold is now a frequent problem in libraries due to a variety of reasons, including floods due to heavier rain, failing HVAC systems, and the false economy of turning the AC off to save money. The library buildings we work in were built for a climate that was cooler with less heavy rain. The impact on library collections can be devastating as flood water enters buildings, and aging heating ventilation and air conditioning systems may not be able to deal with the increased humidity. This webinar will discuss how the library environment affects the collections our users rely on, how mold develops in the library environment, and how simple things can be done to prevent lost collections due to floods and mold.
