Updates to the List of Classes and DSIMS Interface

List of Classes Change

GPO’s Library Services and Content Management (LSCM) will complete a major update this weekend (March 23-24, 2024) to the List of Classes, a listing of everything Federal depository libraries can select through the FDLP. The changes coincide with digital FDLP implementation activities, in this case, shifting the provision of some tangible formats to digital formats. No changes have been made to library selection profiles; however, item numbers selected that used to denote a tangible format may now denote an EL (online) format.

Format changes include migrating item numbers or titles with a:

  • Blended format (example: P/EL format), to just EL format.
  • Blank or unspecified format, to an EL format.
  • P format with no current EL format equivalent, to an EL format.

No changes will be made to titles on the Print Distribution Title (PDT) List or titles that are already EL format.

LSCM staff continue updating titles that:

  • Are tangible electronic media (example: DVD).
  • Are microfiche format.
  • Already have a tangible format and an EL format equivalent.

A snapshot of the changes made to the List of Classes is available. The List of Classes data files will be updated on FDLP.gov on April 1, 2024.

DSIMS Change

Due to the many format changes in the List of Classes, the format tabs will be removed from the list of items available in the Depository Selection Information Management System (DSIMS) interface. DSIMS is used by depository libraries to select and deselect item numbers from item selection profiles. When logged in to DSIMS, there is only one tab labeled “All Items” where all List of Classes entries are listed. Current formats are included in the listing.

If you have any questions about these updates, please use askGPO and select the category, “Digital FDLP.”
