Title: Declutter, curate, and refresh! Make a big impact with small changes at your Federal Depository Library

Speakers:

  • Lisa Pritchard, Director of Library Services, Government Documents Librarian
  • Cassandra Sargent, Librarian, Government Documents

Description:

Need to make your Government documents footprint smaller? Have a FDL collection that’s hidden away in the basement or back room? Looking for ways to bring attention to those really cool resources you know your community will love? Sometimes less really is more! Whether you are at a large library or a small one, selectively highlighting and showcasing your collection will result in greater awareness and engagement. This session will let you see how librarians at two small depositories used enthusiastic editing, creative placement and marketing, and a bit of elbow grease to remodel, relocate, and re-energize their FDL collections to create a more dynamic FDL presence in their communities. These efforts led to greater circulation of tangible items, greater use of digital collections and resources, and an increased awareness of U.S. Government information and the FDLP.
