Title: To Encourage Productive and Enjoyable Harmony Between Man and His Environment: Environmental Impact Statements at Northwestern University’s Transportation Library

Speaker:

  • Rachel Cole, Public Services Librarian, Northwestern University Transportation Library

Description:

Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) are rich sources of data on the environment, governmental and human activity, and environmental history. Northwestern University’s Transportation Library holds the largest collection of EISs in the United States. We will cover processing, storage, and access related to EISs for Northwestern University’s print and digital collections. Using a 1975 EIS on the discontinuation of Lake Michigan car ferry service as a case study, this webinar also incorporates historical collections materials to highlight examples of the contents of an EIS.
