Description

Title: The Give and Take of Coordinating Concurrent Large and Complex FDLP Projects

Speaker:

  • James Rhoades, Social Sciences Librarian & Depository Coordinator, Old Dominion University Libraries; Norfolk, VA

Description:

This webinar illustrates how a carefully coordinated workflow can maximize human resources and minimize project time. The presentation demonstrates how developing and implementing such a process enabled a university selective depository to successfully complete a massive downsizing of a collection, a widespread offering of materials, a weighty relocation of the downsized collection, and a labor intensive receiving of regional materials. The webinar discusses the complexity and challenge of coordinating the above process, with no direct reports across multiple departments and universities, making it a worthy example. The webinar also provides tips on how to avoid becoming overwhelmed when creating plans to meet tight timelines and overcome complex projects. There is give and take but nothing is impossible with a good plan, as the above had a twelve month timeline.
