Description:
Note: This recording demonstrates a tool that has since been discontinued.
For over 22 years Wichita State University staff have provided the FDLP community a set of data mining tools to help library staff manage their FDLP collections. They have recently developed the next generation tool, Documents Data Miner 3 (DDM3) and would like to introduce it to the community. You will learn to:
If you catalog Government documents, process depository boxes, manage all or part of your library’s FDLP item selection profile, or scour various locations for new Government documents content to include in subject guides and social media, this is a tool you want to learn.
-
- Use an alternate way to review shipping lists for item numbers you may select.
- Identify the last time something shipped out.
- Use full List of Classes data to figure out what your library is and isn’t profiled for.
- Pare down your library’s item selection profile to just the active content.
- Identify item numbers you select that are heavily distributed.
- Send lists of new catalog records to subject reviewers.
- Retroactively build digital collections.
- Maintain a current digital collection in your catalog.
- Identify digital resources of interest for non-ILS applications: Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, subject guides, etc.
