Princeton University Library’s geosciences collection supports library users researching worldwide natural hazards. This session describes Earth processes like plate tectonics by using research conducted at Princeton University’s Department of Geosciences and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Viewers will learn how to find real-time and historical data sources, maps, and publications from freely available sources for natural hazard events, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, and wildfires. Examples consist of inquiries and information sources used during research consultations and instruction sessions, including how librarians collaborate within the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS), other information professional networks, and with disaster librarians during natural hazard events.
