Title: The Presidential Records Act in the Age of Twitter
- Dr. John David Rausch, Jr., Teel Bivins Professor of Political Science, West Texas A&M University
President Barack Obama created and used @POTUS when communicating on Twitter. President Donald Trump relies more heavily on his personal Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump. This presentation looks at how the Presidential Records Act of 1978 has fared under a Presidential administration headed by a frequent Tweeter. The presenter also reviews some possible archival efforts seeking to capture Presidential utterances in social media.
