The Superintendent of Documents seeks your thoughts about Government Publications Authorized for Discard by Regional Depository Libraries, a proposed revision of Public Policy Statement SOD-PPS-2020-1. The revision of the policy recognizes the establishment of the National Collection Service Areas and their potential role in collection management decisions for regional depository coordinators regarding the discard of publications.

The revised policy will allow titles to become eligible for regional depository discard when there is a Preservation Steward agreement in place within the regional depository’s National Collection Service Area. The current policy requires one Preservation Steward partner in each of the four recognized geographic areas before titles become eligible for discard.

You are encouraged to submit your comments through October 8, 2022. For more information, see the National Collection Service Areas web page on FDLP.gov.
